Remote Working Part 2 – Why self discipline is important

I have been working remotely for nearly 8 yrs since I first uncovered Quickbooks online an ‘on demand’ small business accounting software service and was energised by the fact that if you can perform accounting online then why shouldn’t it be possible to do other key types of of work remotely?

Whilst working remotely has a lot of positives there are numerous pitfalls which turn into issues that result in lower productivity and lower motivation. The major reason for decreases in productivity in remote workers is disruption and it is a proven and well known fact that it can take a employee up to twenty minutes to establish their original efficiency level after experiencing a disturbance.

Here’s how I do it:

1, Get a habit, tell everyone about it and obsessively maintain it!

Good examples are a consistent time of day when you check or send mail and make or will accept phone calls. Before I began working remotely I used to receive well over a couple of hundred electronic mails a day. Now I think I am unfortunate if I get more than 5. To ’reset’ my e-mail experience I modified my e-mail address and obsessively took steps to shield the details being made available to anyone. I then ‘trained’ every person who I gave my e-mail address to, to use it wisely and sparingly. I also set up an automatic response that swiftly told anyone sending me mail my routine for processing mail and if something required my urgent awareness to mark it as ‘Urgent’.

2. Get rid of alerts.

Disable every feature that can send you a visual or audible alert. This includes portable and
conventional telephones and types of alerts from e-mail such as display events, warning sounds, screen changes to your inbox list and of course facing a window. Get a door on your study and put up a ‘do not disturb’ sign on it.

Using network marketing for extra money

All that you hear in the news nowadays is how horrible the economy is.They keep mentioning all the job losses.  They talk about home foreclosures.They are always pointing out that the dollar is weaker.  Because of that more and more people are looking for ways to make extra money.

One of the ways people are looking into is network marketing.In horrible economic environments mlm companies have a growth spurt.Mostly because a lot of people are in serious need of extra cash.  So you are going to find a lot of people looking for many different network marketing opportunities. 

That is a big reason why a lot of these opportunities will have a huge growth in their industry.Quite a few of these people won’t just be looking for mlm opportunities.  They are going to look for the top network marketing companies.Most people want to join the best opportunities and is is reasonable.  But people don’t realize that success in network marketing is more than the best companies.

They have to realize that success in mlm will be dependant upon how well they can do some mlm prospecting.Recruiting is what makes this business survive.  If they cannot bring in new distributors they will not make it.  After all that is what the whole business is based upon.Earning overrides off of your people your bring in. 

So they need to look beyond just the top companies.They have to develop the skill of prospecting people.That is a skill that most people won’t be familiar with.If they make no effort to learn how to do it, they will soon fail.  Luckily there are plenty of places they can learn.  If they go out and do it, they can succeed.

But just as in any business, if they become lazy and don’t really work hard, they will see failure.  So if you are going to build a network marketing business get ready to work. It is not as easy to do as some people describe it to be.
